Brockton Police Officer Nancy Leedberg is a guest for this episode of Monday Night Talk! Officer Leedberg shares details about two upcoming workshops for parents on using social media safely (July 21 & 22) and what every parent needs to know (August 4). The August 4th workshop will include a Hidden in Plain Sight exhibit, which will be presented by the Brockton Mayor;s Opioid Overdose Prevention Coalition. Adults are encouraged to explore and interact with the display designed to resemble a teenager's bedroom. Throughout the exhibit are items that may indicate a teenager is involved in some high-risk behavior such as substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more. A part of the event will focus on the curriculum and instruction, programs and services and operational issues of the Brockton Public Schools. There will also be a NotMYkid presentation that will educate parents about addictions and destructive behaviors so the community can work together to give students the confidence and self-assurance they need to avoid the temptation of drugs, alcohol and destructive decisions. The event is being held at the East Middle School, 464 Centre Street at 6pm.
