Michelle McKenzie is a special guest on this segment of Monday Night Talk! Michelle, who is a board member for the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA, talks about the shelter launching its first Kitty Litter Challenge in an effort to collect 300 bags – at least 3 tons – of kitty litter in preparation for the annual influx of kittens that happens each spring. APCSM is asking every person who visits the shelter during the month of May to bring one bag of non-clumping clay kitty litter as a donation. The shelter is specifically seeking non-clumping clay litter (i.e. Scamp, Tidy Cat Clay, Fresh Step Clay, store brand). The APCSM uses an average of about 65 bags of litter a month and that amount can double with the spring influx of kittens. Since one pallet of litter costs the shelter about $500, the donations will also make a significant impact on its budget. Progress of the Great Kitty Litter Challenge will be tracked at the shelter so supporters can see when the goal of 300 bags is reached. More information on the challenge is online at www.apcsm.org. Donors who wish to contribute but can’t visit the shelter in person or can’t lift a 20-pound bag of litter can order it online and have it shipped to: Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Mass., 1300 West Elm St. Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
